Caribbean Vacation Package Deals!

If you’re thinking of traveling to the Caribbean, you’re not alone.  Millions of people visit this area every year, making it one of the top tourist areas in the whole world.  Its friendly people, ideal weather, and beautiful ocean scenery are hard to beat when it comes to choosing a place for a honeymoon, or to just get away from it all.  But that popularity has a drawback; because so many people want to visit the Caribbean every year,  that means it’s a sellers market.    A travel company can charge a premium price for a Caribbean vacation package because it’s such a hot spot.  So here are some tips to help you save money on your Caribbean trip.

First, do not just sign up for the first Caribbean vacation package you come across.  It may sound like quite a deal, and in fact, it may later turn out to be quite a deal, but unless you have some basis for comparison, you really don’t know how to judge what’s a deal and what’s not.  So do some homework before signing anything, or giving any company your credit card information.  If you see something that looks like a real bargain, relax.  It won’t take that long to check out other packages, and the odds are very high that the first package will still be available if that’s the one you choose to go with.

Second, be open to second tier amenities.  Yes, it’s great to stay in five star hotels and eat at the best restaurants on the island, but you’ll pay a lot of money for a Caribbean vacation package that includes these deluxe features.  If going first class all the way is really important to you, and for many folks it is, then by all means choose the best package you can find.  But if you’re open to hotels and resorts and restaurants that aren’t necessarily the pinnacle in their class, you can save a lot of money while still having a great time.  There really isn’t all that much difference in the service and quality you’ll experience, but there’s a big difference in the prices you’ll pay.

Third, be flexible.  Like most tourist hot spots, the islands of the Caribbean are much busier at certain times of the year, and much less busy at other times.  If you’re willing to book a Caribbean vacation package during off peak season, you can save a huge amount of money.  Often hotels and restaurants charge much lower rates during off peak, and the same goes for airlines.  Peak season is late December to late April; so off peak is pretty broad.

A Caribbean vacation package doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.  Follow these three suggestions, and you can save yourself a lot of money when you visit the islands.
